Working together we can help provide better care for patients across Montana. Improving the methods and speed by which we securely and seamlessly share vital healthcare information means accurate treatment plans for our communities. By becoming a participant of Big Sky Care Connect (BSCC) you are helping improve health outcomes for your patients across the state and getting the right information, in the right place, at the right time to ensure you are providing the kind of care your patients deserve: the best.

Why should I join BSCC?

The BSCC health information exchange (HIE) is a statewide secure, electronic solution that provides access to comprehensive health information at your fingertips within seconds. Even with all of the technologies we have at our disposal, a large amount of patient information is kept in silos that do not facilitate sharing or ease of accessing the information – locked in filing cabinets, stored on a proprietary electronic medical records system, and generally inaccessible to a patient’s other treating providers at other facilities.

Joining BSCC would mean access to patient information in real-time, ensuring the treating provider knows everything they need to in order provide quality care. All participating members of BSCC, including payors, will have access to information that allows them to manage coordination of care and promote preventative services to improve Montanans health. Access to up-to-date information facilitates informed decision making which supports the effective delivery of care and can help avoid readmissions and adverse events, coordinate care planning, improve diagnoses, decrease duplicate testing, avoid redundant services, and reduce administrative burden.

Seamless sharing of comprehensive and actionable data helps to achieve the Quadruple Aim: enhancing the patient experience, improving Montanan’s health, reducing the cost of health care per capita, and improving the clinician experience. Benefits of participating in the BSCC HIE network include:

  • Real-time access to longitudinal health record
  • Improve care coordination
  • Streamline administrative tasks
  • Enhance emergency response
  • Support for natural disasters/emergencies
  • Integration with PDMP and medication reconciliation tool
  • Close care gaps
  • Improve public health and population health
  • Analytics to optimize service delivery
  • Quality reporting and tracking
  • Enable innovative, value-based payment models
